Program Description

1. Program Introduction

Editor Notes: The syllabus of MBBS program is set according to the MOE regulation and IIME requirements.

  • The main courses in preclinical medicine stage include Biochemistry, Anthroponomy, Embryology, Physiology, Pathogen Biology, Pathology, Pharmacology, pathophysiology and Diagnostics etc.
  • Students need to take Chinese Language and Chinese Culture courses to pass HSK (the Chinese Proficiency Test) grade 4 which is a requirement for the internship in China.
  • The graduates of MBBS program are eligible to take the Medical Licensing Examinations held by the medical councils in different countries such as MCI, PMDC, USMLE, HPCSA, SCHS etc.

Note: The students must score 190 in HSK(Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, the Chinese Proficiency Test) Level IVor above and pass HSKK(HSK Speaking Test) Intermediate Level before taking the senior clerkship in China.

3. Hostels and food

Editor Notes: Students are expected to live in the International Students Dormitory, where twin rooms are available.

  • Almost every room is equipped with telephone, internet access, private bathroom with shower and air-conditioners. 
  • Public kitchens and washing machines are also accessible to students in the dormitory.  
  • The University has on all its campuses several convenient and inexpensive restaurants where a good variety of Chinese and Western foods are served.

4. Fees

Editor Notes: The fees is subject to the school standard when the applicants arrive at the school.

  • Registration: 400 Chinese Yuan(US$ 70).
  • Tuition: 42,800 Chinese Yuan(Approx US$ 7,000) /year for M.B.B.S.
  • Accommodation: 6,000 Chinese Yuan (Approx US$1000)/year/person. Each room for two students.
  • Residence permit: 400 Chinese Yuan(US$70)/year.
  • Health examination: 400 Chinese Yuan(US$70).
  • Health insurance: Covered by University Health insurance plan.
  • Miscellaneous: Food 8,000 Chinese Yuan(US$1,350)/year.

 Note: The fee for accommodation excludes electricity and water bill. There is also a small restaurant to serve Muslim food.

5. Degree Awarded

Editor Notes: International medical undergraduates will be granted a graduation certificate and conferred a medical degree by the ZHU.

MBBS Degree:  

  • The English copy of the degree will state MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
  • After obtaining MBBS Degree, the graduates can apply to take the medical licensing examination in the medical council in order to get registered and practice medicine.
  • According to the regulations in different countries, the students may need to do the degree accreditation first.
  • A MBBS degree holder can find jobs in government as well as private hospitals, nursing homes and other health facilities.
  • Except this, one can also start his own clinic or pursue study for master’s degree.

Note:The course requires students to pay tuition or admission deposit before issuing admission package.

6. Internship

Editor Notes: The internship is arranged in the final year and students can do the internship/training in China or their home country.

  • Students who want to do internship in China need to pass the HSK 4 to contact with the patients and the tuition fee for this year is as normal RMB 42,800 per year.
  • The internship will be carried out in the 6 Grade III Class A affiliated hospitals of Zhejiang University.
  • These hospitals have a total capacity of over 7700 beds, 8780,000 emergency visits and 238,000 inpatients.
  • There are no requirements for students who want to do the internship in their home countries on HSK level and no need to pay for the tuition fee.
  • Students have to take the final examination on Theory Test and Clinical Evaluation in ZJU before graduation.

8. School of Medicine

  • Candidates must have attained, as a minimum, marks of over 70% aggregate in physics, chemistry, and biology (Zoology &Botany) at high school examinationa.
  • Candidates must provide a high school diploma with transcript.
  • Candidates should between 17 and 30 years of age on 31st December of the year of admission.
